Preparation may involve removing internal blisters or carefully restoring part of the profile before lining is considered. The specialist has to judge how much material can be removed without weakening the pipe further. Sections that will not hold a serviceable shape are separated for replacement instead of being hidden inside a liner. Pitch-fibre drain relining should only be considered after that narrowest section has been measured and seen.

A camera can enter easily and then meet a flattened portion below a driveway. Lining the open section does not correct that restriction.

Where the prepared pipe retains a continuous route, the appointed drainage company fits the selected liner from the agreed access point and reopens the identified connections.
Inspect the relined pitch-fibre section
After curing, inspect both ends of the liner, its narrowest visible point and every branch dealt with during installation. Identify the treated run in the property record instead of filing an unlabelled video.
A liner should not be forced through a pipe that has lost a usable route. Where deformation is too severe, targeted excavation and replacement may be needed. A combined plan can replace the failed section and retain less affected pipework beyond it.

Cleaning weakened material. Preparation must suit the weakened material. The contractor chooses the approach after inspecting the pipe and checks its condition again before installing anything.
Relining can remove a damaged or rough internal surface from the blockage pattern, but it cannot correct every cause. The survey must also consider gradients, connections and faults beyond the treated section.
